Help fund our hermitage
About
We're helping to form a community of contemplative hermits in an undisclosed location. The immediate plan is to establish a hermitage in a home that needs improvements to make it habitable. The long-term plan is to purchase a cloistered monastery that contains a fully-consecrated traditional chapel. Work is slated to begin this spring for possible occupancy in summer of 2025. The maintenance and acquisition of these properties will require significant funds.
Improvements needed
The hermitage is an older home. Carpets need to be replaced with laminate throughout the home. Curtains and blinds are needed for the windows. Bathrooms need updating with new tubs, sinks, and toilets. The walls and ceilings need to be spackled and painted. Some light fixtures need to be replaced. The laundry room needs insulation, sheetrock, a new sink, and a washer and dryer.

Once the hermits are able to occupy the newly remodeled hermitage they will need help covering the costs of the utilities and other monthly expenses. The hermits are required to pay for electricity, water, septic upkeep, and garbage. In addition, they need help covering the cost of food and various other supplies.

Cloistered Monastery
The long-term plan is to purchase a cloistered monastery or a property with one or more dwellings that can be modified for communal living. There is a property that will be vacated in the next one to two years that is already set up to accommodate a cloistered living situation with cells for hermits, a commercialized kitchen to accommodate meal prep for larger numbers, and a fully-consecrated traditional chapel. It sits on many acres in a very private, somewhat secluded, and desirable community (perfect for hermits).

It is critical for a hermit to find stability, solitude, and the peace of contemplation so they can cling continually to God. This investment will require significant funds. Please contact Mark Rose, Heed's founder and Executive Director if you're interested in donating towards our goals for a cloistered monastery.
